At age 11, Anna performed her first very well-received lead stage role, as Maja Gräddnos (Mary Cream-Nose), in Pelle Svanslös Är Lös (Pelle No-Tail) directed by Peter Nilsson. The successful children’s theater play about Pelle Svanslös, the lovable anthropomorphic cat, was based on the Swedish author Gösta Knutsson’s popular household name children’s books, released between 1939 to 1972. The book series was a satire of Swedish society at the time, and throughout the years it has been adapted multiple times among all for film, TV, theater, picture books and comics.
Anna was brought up in a musical family with special attention to music, and to the performing arts; her father is an accomplished drummer. From childhood, with her family’s encouragement, love, and support she was able to pursue all her interests and to develop her skills as an actress. As a young teen Anna studied dance and the piano, and was encouraged to pursue singing by the famous Swedish concert and opera singer and vocal coach Sylvia Mang-Borenberg. Even though she very much enjoyed singing, and continues to do so, she knew, at this very young age it was her acting skills she wished to emphasize. With her passion for acting, Anna continued seeking acting opportunities.
Since graduating from both drama and musical theater schools, and studying psychology at a Swedish university, and before launching into film roles, Anna pursued stage work. At The Village Theater (Byteatern) in Kalmar she worked in the theater production of Noll Noll, with the director Ulf Andersson. Anna has enthusiastically, and characteristically embraced playing comedic and dramatic roles, as well as acting in a variety of means, including feature films, TV films, and TV commercials. She debuted in the crime drama, False Accusation, playing opposite the much-loved Swedish actor Sven Wollter, who also mentored her. Anna’s colleagues call her warm, lovable, and spirited; a person whose brightness illuminates a very broad spectrum.
Anna’s notable performances, have been acknowledged for both her stage and screen work. Among Anna’s various successful stage performances, was the leading role of Nora in Henrik Ibsen’s three-act play, A Doll’s House, produced at The Mirror Theater (Spegelteatern) in Stockholm. She continued to do work with The Mirror Theater, also doing outdoor theater at Långholmen in Stockholm, performing in the role of Ariel in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, followed by the role of Margaret in the production Woyzeck by Georg Büchner. Without auditioning Anna was given the leading role of Maria, a young and abused mother, in Jakob Lundvik’s movie drama, The Abyss. Both the film and Anna’s performance received ongoing acclaim following the Swedish Film Institute’s premiere in Stockholm.
Anna grew up in the Swedish countryside in the midst of beautiful nature surrounded by animals, many of which she personally cared for, including several rescued dogs over the years. Today, Anna, her husband, their two adored children, and two dogs, live in Los Angeles. She continues to care deeply about children and animal’s rights, and believes in living every day in the moment.
Life is what we choose it to be; being the best person one can be – every day.
